About the Role
The Company is seeking new members for its Board of Directors to support its mission of promoting and advocating for the reduction of harms associated with drug use, including overdoses and the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C. The ideal candidates will have experience in harm reduction, finances, leadership, fundraising, policy, public health, law, addiction services/medicine, or related fields. Lived experiences and expertise, as well as other skills that align with the company's mission, are also highly valued. Board members are expected to share their perspectives, participate in the strategic planning and assessment of the organization's performance, and represent the company in the community. While experience as a board member is beneficial, it is not required, and training is provided to support all members.
Responsibilities for board members at the company include knowing and effectively articulating the organization's mission, participating in the hiring and evaluation of the executive director, and maintaining the confidentiality of board meetings. Active participation in monthly meetings, which are currently mostly virtual, and in at least one committee or workgroup is also required. Additionally, board members are expected to contribute to fundraising efforts, which may involve making a personal donation, volunteering, and assisting in various fundraising activities.
