- Maintains a safe environment and follows the Infant Security and Abduction Policy.
- Assists nurses with patient transportation and other patient-care tasks.
- Cross-trains as a unit secretary; covers the front desk, answers call systems/phones and monitors infant security.
- Discontinues Foley catheters and medication locks as directed by the RN.
- Discharges patients as needed to support L&D transfers.
- Assists with transferring patients to outside facilities by obtaining medical records; monitors infection-control practices of visitors and support staff.
- Prepares the unit and patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and post-operative patients.
- Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.
- Reports changes in patient condition or behavior to the nurse promptly.
- Provides safe care to newborn, adolescent, and adult patients.
- Accurately takes and records vital signs in the patient record.
- Distributes water and records intake and output as needed.
- Weighs patients; records weights and notifies the nurse of changes.
- Performs patient rounds at least every two hours.
- Assists the nurse with post-mortem care.
- Provides patient care as directed by the licensed nurse, including enemas, sitz baths, blood glucose monitoring, and simple dressing changes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: • State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification Preferred
• BLS Certification Required
• 1 year of experience preferred
• High School Diploma preferred
