Job Title: GIS Technician (Election Operations Support)
Location: Dallas, TX 75247 (Onsite)
Job Type: Contract (1-2 Months)
Pay: $30/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday (Daytime hours)
Job Summary We are seeking a GIS Technician to support election operations in a live command center environment. This is a fast-paced, time-sensitive role focused on real-time GIS data updates during active voting periods.
This is not a traditional GIS role. The primary responsibility is supporting live election operations, ensuring mapping data is accurate and up to date to support critical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities - Provide real-time GIS support during election operations
- Update and maintain live mapping data throughout voting periods
- Ensure accuracy of:
- Polling locations
- Precinct boundaries and status (open/closed)
- Support tracking and visualization of:
- Voter turnout data layers
- Election-related issues (polling site problems, boundary discrepancies)
- Assist election command center staff with data-driven decision support
- Perform general GIS support, system checks, and data maintenance during non-peak times
Work Environment - Fast-paced command center ("war room") setting during election dates
- High-visibility role supporting county-wide operations
- Requires ability to work under pressure and meet real-time deadlines
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years of GIS experience (ArcGIS or similar platforms)
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to manage real-time updates in a high-pressure environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Reliable and able to work critical election dates
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in elections, government, or public sector
- Background supporting command center or emergency operations
- Experience with real-time data tracking or dashboards
